Chocolate Brownies Recipe

The reason I have chosen this dessert for you, is simply because it’s a crowd favorite. It would be awesome to serve a batch for your family to enjoy this coming festive season. I have pretty much used this recipe for as long as I can remember. I took an average brownie recipe from a Chef friend of mine who currently lives in Ohio. I tweaked the recipe so that it is a little bit moister, perfect for our South African taste buds.

Please enjoy and try not to over indulge before the festive season.

Until next month, ciao for now!!

Ingredients

Makes about 10 wedges

200g Dark Chocolate
6 Large Eggs, Separated

100g Ground Almonds
200ml Oil

Method:

  • Preheat oven to 180C
  • Grease a flat baking tray with high lip
  • Melt the chocolate in a double boiler. Meanwhile whisk the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
  • In the yolk egg mixture add the ground almonds, fold the oil and melted dark chocolate
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until just over soft peak
  • Gently fold the egg whites into the chocolate mixture
  • Pour into flat baking tray
  • Bake until a skewer comes clean, approx 35 – 40 min
  • Then remove from oven and cool
  • Once cooled, cut into equal wedges and serve with cream or ice-cream as seasonal fruit.
